We have tested the pads on a panel of both gaming and generic mice. Every last one has kept working with the pads on. If you're having trouble, you may want to download the configuration software for your specific mouse and see about setting up its surface detection to make it work better.

The upper shell has been optimized for using it as a joystick. If this plastic part was not here, you wouldn't be able to use the forward joystick tilt without triggering an accidental click.
